Hong Kong Pools – 5 Cool Spots to Cool Off in the Heat
When the summer heat hits, it’s easy to feel like your skin is frying in the air. Rather than retreat to your air-conditioned room or an ice-cold bath, head to Hong Kong’s top pools for some cool swimming action surrounded by some of the city’s best views.
This pool is not only a great place to swim laps but also to lounge around on the sun deck and take in the view of Victoria Harbour. It’s the world’s highest hotel pool on the 118th floor so not only is the setting beautiful by day but it becomes even more spectacular by night when the lights of Hong Kong Island light up the sky.
Located in the heart of Wan Chai, this pool is a favourite amongst locals and is a great option for families. With two indoor pools, a Jacuzzi and outdoor leisure pools with water slides for all ages, this is the perfect location to cool off. Plus, it’s right across from Belcher’s Bay Park, so if the kids haven’t exhausted themselves swimming, they can hop over to the outdoor playground for some more playtime!
Opened in 1918, this YMCA-run pool is the first indoor pool in Hong Kong and still offers an affordable alternative to some of the more premium hotels in the area. With a wide variety of sports classes for kids, the pool also has an outdoor kid lagoon where they can splash and explore interactive facilities such as an aqua tunnel, water shooters, and slides. The pool is free for hotel guests but non-hotel guests can access it on weekdays for four hours with a HKD 600 pass.
A long-time fan favourite, this swimming pool is home to a range of pools for all ages and includes a teaching pool, a leisure pool, and one that’s designed specifically for toddlers. Plus, this is the only pool in Hong Kong with a huge water slide that’s suitable for older kids and teenagers too!
With an impressive skyline backdrop, this is a fun pool for all ages and the perfect spot to cool off during the summer. The main pool is heated and includes a training pool, a lap lane, and a large splash pool for the little ones. In addition, the pool has a sauna and steam room for some post-swim relaxation. You can even sign up for a class or take part in the pool’s competitions! The pool is closed on certain days for cleaning and maintenance but check the Leisure and Cultural Services Department website for more information.
